Welcome to Spring Term

This term our topic is…

Scientists, Explorers and Inventors of Early Islamic Civilisation

This half term:

  • As mathematicians we will be learning about multiplication and division
  • As writers we will be writing a recount of a recent trip and writing stories set in imaginary worlds
  • As scientists we will be learning about animals including humans: Skeletons and Muscles
  • As computer coders we will be coding with Scratch
  • As historians we will be asking: What’s golden about the Golden age of Islam?
  • As geographers we will develop our skills with map work, our location knowledge and explore human geography linked to ourĀ  topic
  • As artists we will be exploring pattern and print making
  • As musicians we will be developing our rhythm, musical understanding and performance skills through learning a two part pop-song
  • As linguists we will learn French vocabulary and begin to communicate in our unit: Getting to Know You
  • As sports people we will keep fit and healthy in PE with Games/Gymnastics (Monday) Dance (Thursday)

Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school at all times. Joggers and trainers are required for outdoor sports (Mondays). Trainers or Pumps are required for indoor PE.

Children are encouraged to bring a water bottle to keep on their desk to ensure they keep hydrated.

Homework – given out on Monday, to be returned on the following Monday. Spellings are to be learnt and practised for a spellings test on Fridays

Times tables – children to practise these each week at home. 10 minutes a day is a great way to aid arithmetic fluency.

Reading – please try to read with your child each day.
